Cristian Lucian Munteanu (born October 17, 1980 in Arad ) is a Romanian football player . The central defender has been under contract with Pandurii Târgu Jiu in Liga II since the beginning of 2018 .

Career

The career of Munteanu began in 2000 in West Petrom Arad in the third Romanian league, the Divizia C . In 2001 he moved to second division FC Bihor Oradea . There he was used only irregularly in the 2001/02 season and missed promotion with his team as third-placed behind UTA Arad and FC Baia Mare . A year later the second place jumped out and Munteanu - now regulars - rose with his team through a success in the relegation matches against Oţelul Galaţi in the Divizia A on. There, however, the club rose again immediately . In the 2004/05 season he missed the direct return.

In the winter break 2005/06 Munteanu left Bihor and moved to FC Sopron in the Hungarian Nemzeti Bajnokság . With Sopron he ended the following two seasons in midfield of the league. In the summer of 2007 he returned to Romania, where he joined Politehnica Iași . After the club had placed twice in the lower midfield, he finished only 16th in the 2009/10 season and had to relegate to League II. Munteanu left the club and moved to promoted FCM Târgu Mureş , with whom he completed the 2010/11 season in secured midfield. In the summer of 2011 he was hired by league competitor FC Brașov . After two seasons in midfield in Liga 1, he joined newly promoted AFC Săgeata Năvodari in the summer of 2013 . After relegation in 2014 , he moved to CSMS Iași . After half a year he moved to Universitatea Cluj . With Cluj he also had to relegate at the end of the 2014/15 season . He then joined the FC Viitorul Constanța . There it was only used twice.

His contract was terminated at the end of 2015. Munteanu was without a club for half a year. In the summer of 2016, CSM Râmnicu Vâlcea brought him to Liga II. In the winter break of 2016/17 , however, his new club withdrew from the game. Munteanu then moved to league competitor CSM Metalul Reșița . His time at Metalul was unsuccessful: out of eleven games, nine were lost and the club was relegated at the end of the season. Munteanu left Reșița in the summer of 2017 and joined Olimpia Satu Mare . At his new club he was again a regular player, but had to look for a new employer again during the 2017/18 winter break , as Olimpia had to withdraw for financial reasons. He has been playing for Pandurii Târgu Jiu since the beginning of 2018 .
