Crocodile (Eng. "Crocodile") is the directorial debut of the South Korean film director Kim Ki-duk from 1996.

action

The protagonist is a homeless man who is nicknamed "Crocodile" because of his "crocodile-like behavior" and who lives under a bridge on the Han River by stealing money and valuables from suicides and selling their corpses to their families. He can stay underwater for a relatively long time without having to take a breath. His only social relationships are a little boy and an old man, Mr. Oh, who live with him. These suffer from his constant outbursts of anger, for example because he remembers his youth.

One day he saves the life of the suicide Hyun-jung who was abandoned by her boyfriend. Then she is humiliated and sexually abused by the crocodile, but hardly offers any resistance.

When "Crocodile" is arrested innocently and accused of murder, Mr. Oh helps him to get free by identifying the right perpetrator as a witness. This perpetrator takes revenge on Mr. Oh by murdering him. Mr. Oh's killer is an accomplice of Hyun-jung's ex-boyfriend. Hyun-jung and "Crocodile" kill this together.

Hyung-jung and "Krokodil" have sex for the first time with mutual will. The next day, Hyung-jung makes another suicide attempt, which “Crocodile” does not prevent. He also takes his own life.
