Curtis Jon Giles (* the thirtieth November 1958 in The Pas , Manitoba ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player , who in his active between 1973 and 1993, including for the Minnesota North Stars , New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League played.

Career

Curt Giles began his career as a hockey player with the Humboldt Broncos, for which he was active from 1973 to 1975 in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League . He then attended the University of Minnesota Duluth for four years , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel to his studies in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association . During this period he was selected in the fourth round of the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft as the 54th player from the Minnesota North Stars . In the 1979/80 season , the defender made his debut for the Minnesota North Stars in the National Hockey League , but also played for their farm team Oklahoma City Stars in the Central Hockey League . For the next six years, he was a leading player in the Minnesota North Stars franchise . There he started the 1986/87 season before he was given up in November 1986 to league rivals New York Rangers . Almost exactly a year later, he returned to Minnesota shortly after the start of the 1987/88 season. He spent most of the 1991/92 season preparing for the Olympic Games for Team Canada. Following the Winter Games, he ended the season with the St. Louis Blues from the NHL, where he ended his career at the age of 34 following the 1992/93 season.

International

For Canada , Giles took part in the 1982 World Cup and the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . At the 1982 World Cup he and his team won the bronze medal and the silver medal at the 1992 Winter Games.
