Career

Tim Young began his career as a hockey player with the Pembroke Lumber Kings, for which he was active in the 1972/73 season in the Central Junior Hockey League . From 1973 to 1975 he played for the Ottawa 67’s from the Ontario Hockey Association junior league . During his time in Ottawa, numerous professional teams became aware of the talented attacker. First he was selected in the WHA Amateur Draft 1974 in the first round as a total of 13th player by the New England Whalers and a year later in the NHL Amateur Draft 1975 in the first round as a total of 16th player by the Los Angeles Kings . The Canadian finally decided on the contract offer of the Los Angeles Kings, which, however, transferred him to the Minnesota North Stars in August 1975 in exchange for a second round vote for the NHL Amateur Draft 1976 , without he had ever played for Los Angeles. With the Minnesota North Stars he was one of the leading players in the National Hockey League from 1975 to 1983 . He himself also took part in the 1977 NHL All-Star Game . On August 3, 1983, he was given in exchange for Craig Levie and Tom Ward to the Winnipeg Jets , for which he scored 15 goals and 20 assists in a total of 45 games in the 1983/84 season . Most recently he ran in the 1984/85 season for the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL and their farm team Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League , before ending his career at the age of 30.
