Tributaries and hydraulic structures

The Dörpe is a left tributary of the Wupper . It rises on the site of a golf course near the Hückeswagen village of Stoote , quickly forms the border with Remscheid , flows through the villages of Dörpe , Därersteeg and Dörpmühle and flows into the Dörpe pre-dam of the Wuppertal dam .
Historic water engines on the stream
Like all rivers of the area was also home to the Dörpe several mills and hammers to the now mostly only local and, Flurnamen remember.
- Dkörpersteger Mühle (built as a grain mill in 1778 , later a fruit mill )
- Goldenbergshammer I and II (before 1714, multiple changes of function)
- Dörpmühle (fulling mill built before 1690 , later expanded into an extensive cloth factory; today only a few buildings remain as residential buildings)
- Hangberger Mühle (first mentioned mustard mill in 1872)
- Hagermühle ( fulling mill occupied from 1680, demolished during the construction of the Dörpe pre-barrier)
- Heyers-Hammer I and II (Burghoffshammer) (from 1718 occupied hammer smithy, later sheep's wool spinning mill , then stamping plant , demolished during the construction of the Dörpe pre-barrier)
- Coens Mühle (Dkörpermühle) (from 1189 occupied camera mill , later fulling mill, burned down in 1889)
- Lüdorfs Hammer ( licensed as a Reckhammer from 1715 )
