Dörrberg is a district of Gräfenroda in the rural community of Geratal in the Ilm district ( Thuringia ).

geography

Dörrberg and Dörrtal

Dörrberg is not an independent place, but only a settlement in the valley of the Wild Gera above Graefenroda at an altitude of about 430 meters. To the east of the valley of the Wild Gera branches off the Dörrtal leading to Geschwenda , into which the settlement also extends. Adjacent mountains on the east side of the Wilder Gera are the Schiebigenberg (517 m) in the north and the Dörrberg (568 m) in the south and west of the river, the Bergmannskopf (616 m) and the Waldsberg (701 m) with the Bärenstein . The robbery castle is located south of Dörrberg . Part of the Dörrberg settlement in the Dörrtal does not belong administratively to the municipality of Gräfenroda, but to the municipality of Geschwenda, so that from 1952 to 1990 the border between the district of Erfurt (Graefenroda) and the district of Suhl (Geschwenda) ran through Dörrberg .

history

Dörrberg emerged from a settlement with a forester's house and various sawmills in the Black Forest office towards the end of the 17th century. In the 20th century the settlement grew together with Graefenroda in the north, so that the border between the two can no longer be clearly defined. In 1919 Dörrberg was incorporated into Graefenroda. Until 1920 Dörrberg was in the border area between Saxony-Gotha and Schwarzburg-Sondershausen . A major development spurt began after the railway connection in 1884.

Gundermann House

An important building in Dörrberg is the Gundermann House, a half-timbered forester's house built in 1685. Little south is the 110-meter-high viaduct Wilde Gera the Bundesautobahn 71 .

Economy and Infrastructure

Dörrberg is shaped by the forestry and wood processing industry. There is also a restaurant and a youth hostel here.

Dörrberg is on the road from Graefenroda through the Wild Gera valley to Oberhof and Gehlberg . The road through the Dörrtal to Geschwenda is unpaved. Dörrberg has had a stop on the Neudietendorf – Ritschenhausen railway line since 1884 , which is served every two hours by a South Thuringia railway to Erfurt and Meiningen .
