Dörte Franke

Dörte Franke (born November 26, 1974 in Leipzig ) is a German author and documentary filmmaker.

Life

Dörte Franke experienced her early childhood in the GDR , which was of greater importance for her previous work. In 1982 her mother Ute Franke traveled with her to the Federal Republic of Germany .

After studying political science , German literature and history in Cologne and studying dramaturgy at the Potsdam University of Film and Television , she lives in Berlin .

Her script “Büchner ist tot” was awarded the Hessian Film Prize in 2015. In 2017 she received a Grimme Prize (together with Khyana el Bitar ) for the script for the HR / ARD Degeto film "Dead man working".
