history

During the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648), Dürnbach and Gmund were largely destroyed by Swedish troops and the population decimated by war and plague.

Dürnbach, named after the stream of the same name , which flows through the village and flows into the Festenbach, was called Dürrenbach for a long time. For a long time Dürnbach was a small settlement that only expanded with industrialization.

The community was attached to the community of Gmund in 1978 as part of a referendum.

In February 2013, the Gmund municipal council decided to develop the Landbaderfeld in the center of the village with residential and commercial zones.
