Five alpine huts of the Holzer Alpe can still be made out on the historical field map ( Bavarian premiere ) . The summit corridor bears the name on the fire there .

The Holzeralm or Holzer-Alm is an abandoned Alm and a privately owned former alpine hut in the Bavarian Prealps that is not managed . Its highest point is at 1211  m above sea level. NHN meter high Wasenkogel in the north of the alpine pasture. The Alm is located in the southern area of ​​the Dürnbach district of the municipality of Gmund am Tegernsee . The Wasenkogel forms part of the ridge that stretches from the Luckenkopf over the Kogelkopf and the Nesselscheibe to the Holzeralm.

The alpine hut is located on the southern slope of the Wasenkogel around 40 meters below the summit; from there the summit can also be reached via the alpine meadow. The alpine pasture has a clear area of ​​11 hectares ; it can be reached from Bad Wiessee , over the Nesselscheibe or from the north as a mountain hike or by mountain bike. The Alm also included 76 hectares of forest pasture . There is an alpine cross a little below the summit .

history

The Alm originally belonged to the Tegernsee Monastery and was first mentioned in a document in 1529. Most recently, the Holzeralm was farmed together with the Winneralm located to the south-east, whose grazing ended as early as 1946. In 1965, the digging also ended on the Holzeralm.

One of the original five alpine huts was still preserved, this was demolished in 2018 and a new building was approved, the last of the other huts had already fallen into disrepair in 1950.
