The Dürrenstein ( Italian Picco di Vallandro ) is a 2839 m high mountain in the Braies Dolomites in South Tyrol ( Italy ). It rises in the ridge between the Braies Valley and the Höhlenstein Valley and is part of the Fanes-Senes- Braies Nature Park .
The Dürrenstein can be reached in an easy mountain tour, which requires surefootedness, via the alpine pasture area of the Plätzwiese (around 2000 m ) with the Dürrensteinhütte . Alternatively, the ascent takes place from the top of the Im Gemärk pass at an altitude of 1530 m . The Dürrenstein is mainly in winter a very popular destination for many ski touring or snowshoeing, either directly from Ponticello in Prague from coming up out of, or from the Prato Piazza. To the east of Dürrenstein is the summit of the Helltaler Bad , which is also very popular for winter tours.
