Dommaraju Gukesh (born May 29, 2006 in Chennai ) is an Indian chess player . He received the title of Grand Master from FIDE in March 2019 , he fulfilled the required standards in April 2018 at the 18th Bangkok Chess Club Open , in December 2018 at a grand master's tournament in Paraćin, Serbia, and in January 2019 at the Delhi International Open . In 2019 he played in the French Top 12 for the Association Cannes-Echecs .

Gukesh won the 2018 World Youth Championship in the U12 age group in Santiago de Compostela, Spain .
