Abhijeet Gupta (born October 16, 1989 in Bhilwara ) is an Indian chess master .

In 2002, at the age of 13, he won the national U19 championship. He has been an international champion since 2005 , he met the required standards in October 2003 at the Parsvnath Intl Open in Delhi , in January 2004 at the Commonwealth Championship in Mumbai and in April 2005 at the Dubai Open . In 2008 Abhijeet Gupta was appointed Grand Master . The title was applied for in 2007 after Gupta met standards at the Andorra Open in July 2006, the Parsvnath Open in January 2007 and an Open in Lleida in July 2007, but it was only in April 2008 that he exceeded the required minimum rating of 2500. 2008 he became Junior World Champion in Gaziantep ahead of his compatriot Parimarjan Negi and Arik Braun . In the same year he won an open in New Delhi . At the Chess World Cup 2011 in Khanty-Mansiysk he prevailed in the first round against Rauf Məmmədov , in the second against Samuel Shankland , but failed in the third round to Bu Xiangzhi .

Abhijeet Gupta took part with the Indian national team in the 2012 Chess Olympiad , where he achieved the second-best individual result on the fourth board. He also took second place in the team classification at the Asian team championships in 2008 and 2012, while he was second-best reserve player in 2008 and 2012 best player on the fourth board. In the 2016/17 season Abhijeet Gupta plays for SF Deizisau in the 2nd Bundesliga .
