Santosh Vidit (born October 24, 1994 in Nashik , Maharashtra or Indore ) is an Indian chess player.

In 2008 he won the U14 World Championship in Vũng Tau , at the U16 World Championship in 2009 in Kemer , he was second behind SP Sethuraman . At the U20 World Cup in 2013 in İzmit , he finished third. At the 2015 World Chess Cup in Baku he lost the first round to Lázaro Bruzón , and at the 2017 World Chess Cup , after winning against Neuris Delgado Ramírez and Lê Quang Liêm , he made it into the third round, in which he lost to Ding Liren .

Since October 2009 he has held the title of International Master . He has been a grandmaster since January 2013 . The title was awarded to him at the age of 18 years and 3 months. As of December 2018, he is in third place in the Indian Elo ranking, behind Viswanathan Anand and P. Harikrishna .

With the Indian national team, Vidit took part in the 2016 and 2018 Chess Olympiads , the 2015 and 2017 World Team Championships and the 2016 Asian Team Championship. At the 2017 Team World Cup, he achieved the third-best result on the top board, he won the 2016 Asian Team Championship with the team and at the same time achieved the best individual result on the third board. In the Chinese team championship in 2017 and 2019 , Vidit played for the team from Shanghai, with whom he won the title, and in 2018 for Chengdu, in the Czech Extra League he has been playing for the 1st Novoborský ŠK since 2018 , with whom he will play in the European Club Cup Reached second place in 2018 and 2019. In 2017 he played in the Spanish División de Honor for CA Solvay and in the Hungarian team championship in the 2017/18 season for DVTK Sport Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság . In the German Bundesliga , Vidit plays for SV 1930 Hockenheim in the 2019/20 season .
