Chanda Sandipan (born August 13, 1983 in Calcutta ) is an Indian chess player .

Life

Sandipan won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 1st place at the tournament in Wiesbaden (2002), 1st – 2nd place. Place at the Open in Winterthur (2002), 2nd place at the Open Leinfelder Schachtage in Leinfelden (2002) and 2nd place three times at the Indian championship (2003, 2004, 2006).

He has held the title of Grand Master since 2003 and fulfilled the required standards in February 2000 at the 11th Goodricke Intl. Open in Calcutta, a year later at the 12th edition of this tournament and in July 2003 at the 23rd Open in Benasque . In 2004 he was the winner of the Curaçao Chess Festival with 7.5 / 9, half a point higher than Alexander Shabalov .

Sandipan took part in the 2009 World Chess Cup . After defeating Mikhail Kobalija 1.5: 0.5 in the first round , he lost to Dmitri Jakowenko 0: 2 in the second round .

National team

With the Indian national team, Sandipan took part in the 2004 , 2006 and 2008 Chess Olympiads . He also took part in the Asian team championships in 2003 (with India's second team) and 2005 (when he won with the team and achieved the second-best result of the reserve players).

societies

Since the 2001/02 season he has been playing in Germany for the Solingen chess company , from the 2002/03 season to the 2018/19 season in the 1st Bundesliga . With Solingen he became German team champion in 2016 and also took part in the European Club Cup twice.
