R. Praggnanandhaa ( Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa ; born August 10, 2005 in Chennai ) is an Indian chess player who holds the title of Grand Master .

successes

Praggnanandhaa won the World Youth Championships in 2013 in the U8 age group (with 11 points from 11 games) and in 2015 in the U10 age group. His sister is the two-time youth chess world champion R. Vaishali .

In 2016, Praggnanandhaa became the youngest player in chess history to be awarded the title of International Master . At his third norm he was 10 years, 10 months and 19 days old. He fulfilled the norms for his title at the 30th International Chess Festival in Cannes in February 2016, at the B tournament of the Aeroflot Open in Moscow in March 2016, where he won against the grandmasters Levon Babujian and Borys Chartschenko , among others , and at the 9. International KIIT Chess Festival in Bhubaneswar in May 2016. In June 2018 he achieved his third grandmaster norm at the Gredine Open in Italy, so that he was awarded the title in the same year. In 2019, at the age of 14, he won the youth world championship in the U18 age group. To date, Praggnanandhaa is the second youngest grandmaster behind Sergei Karjakin at the time of his appointment . In 2019 he played in the French Top 12 for the Association Cannes-Echecs .
