The DB Regio Allgäu-Schwaben , based in Kempten, was a regional transport company of the DB Regio Bavaria with around 850 employees. It was created from the merger of DB Regio Allgäu and DB Regio Bavarian Swabia October 1, 2010 and was responsible for much of the rail-bound regional and local transport services in the Region of Bavarian Swabia responsible.
On January 1, 2017, the independent transport company was dissolved and the transport service was taken over by DB Regio AG Region Bayern Betriebsmanagement Augsburg / Kempten .
history
With the merger of the DB Regio Allgäu and DB Regio Bayerisch-Schwaben on October 1, 2010, the regional transport company DB Regio Allgäu-Schwaben was created . At the same time, responsibility for the previously commissioned transport services was also transferred to the new transport company.
In order to remain competitive and to meet the specifications of the route tenders, older vehicles (especially the 218 series and the n-wagons) were replaced by new vehicles of the 245, 642 and 650 series from 2014. In addition, the transport company increased its transport capacities by purchasing additional double-decker cars.
In 2014 the DB Regio Allgäu-Schwaben received the pull for both lots of the Allgäu diesel network. In the tender for the Augsburg I diesel network in 2015, however, the transport company was subject to the competing Bavarian Regiobahn .
In 2016 the DB Regio Allgäu-Schwaben secured the interim contract for the Ulm diesel network and thus continued operations there.
As part of an internal structural reform at DB Regio, the transport operation was dissolved on January 1, 2017 and responsibility for the commissioned transport services was transferred to DB Regio AG Region Bayern .
Transport services
An essential part of the transport performance of the DB Regio Allgäu-Schwaben was the operation on the non-electrified routes in Central Swabia and in the Allgäu . The vehicles of the transport company ran from Ulm and Augsburg to Lindau (Lake Constance) , Oberstdorf , Füssen and Reutte in Tyrol (Illertalbahn, Mittelschwabenbahn , Kneipp-Lechfeld-Bahn , König-Ludwig-Bahn and Ausserfernbahn ). In addition, the Allgäu-Franken-Express was part of the route network between Nuremberg and Lindau or Oberstdorf.
In addition, DB Regio Allgäu-Schwaben was commissioned to operate the electrified route network around Augsburg ( Fugger Express ). The network extended from Treuchtlingen in the north and Aalen and Ulm in the west to Munich .
Occasionally special trains were also used to bring the football fans of FC Augsburg to the away games.
vehicles
At DB Regio Allgäu-Schwaben (July 2015) both electric locomotives of the 111 series and diesel locomotives of the 218 and 245 series, together with double-deck cars and n-cars, were in use as push-pull trains .
In addition, the transport company had a large number of electric multiple units of the 440 series and diesel multiple units of the 612 , 628.4 , 642 and 650 series .
