Darius & Finlay is an Austrian music producer - and DJ - duo , which consists of Christian Gmeiner and Johann Gmachl and became known through the songs Do It All Night and Rock to the Beat .

Career

2009: musical breakthrough

Destination was Darius & Finlay's first successful single in 2009. It was able to assert itself in the Austrian sales charts shortly after its release. The voice of the song belongs to the American singer Nicco . In the same year, Do It All Night was released , again with singer Nicco. The song became a big club hit and was also on the sales charts in Austria and Germany. In addition, in 2009 the Darius & Finlay project was licensed to the major company Sony Music Germany

2010: Do It All Night Vol. 1

Her third single, Rock To The Beat , was released in 2010 and became a huge hit in both Germany and Austria. It reached number 28 in the German album charts and number 14 in the Austrian sales charts. Rock To The Beat was also number 2 in the Official German Dance Annual Charts in 2010 and in the DJ and club charts in many other European countries.

At the end of April 2010, Shows Mir 10 (Explode 3) was published. This time the DJ Shaun Baker and the Seaside Clubbers took part. Another remake of the classic "Explode theme" by Shaun Baker alone. The singer Danzel was involved in the English version and the Seaside Clubbers in the German version. This song was also in the sales charts and it was one of the official World Cup final songs.

Hold On was also released in 2010 . Together with Nicco they presented the song at the Ballermann Hits 2010 in Bulgaria. Shortly after its release, the song shot into the singles charts in many countries. After a few weeks, the publication of their compilation Do it All Night Vol.1 followed , which made it into the top 10 of the German and Austrian sampler charts.

2011: Do It All Night Vol. 2

The year 2011 began with Till Morning , her sixth single, recorded once again with singer Nicco . This was followed by She's A Freak with Tibration and Here Comes the Night with Daz. As before, these singles were also in the German and Austrian charts. The following songs Generation Fascination with Shaun Baker were less successful. Then UBAP came together with Tom Mountain and was number 1 in Austria's dance charts.

The second Do-It-All-Night compilation was released on July 29, 2011. This also rose high in the sampler charts. It reached number 12 in Germany and number 8 in Austria. In addition to new hits like She's A Freak or Here Comes the Night, it also includes other big club hits like Miss Sunshine from RIO or DJ Antoines Welcome To St. Tropez .

2012: Singles chart successes in Central Europe

In 2012, Do It All Night was released in a newly revised version as Do It All Night 2k12 . The well-known topic in new packaging was able to storm several Top 100 in some European countries and was most successful in Switzerland with 11th place. In addition to Nicco , the German rapper Carlprit also worked on this version of Do It All Night .

After the success, singer Nicco recorded the single Party Shaker with the German dance project RIO , in return RIO's lead singer Tony T. switched to Darius & Finlay. The result was the song Phenomenon , which was released as a single on August 3, 2012 and entered the Austrian charts, where it reached number 26 for three weeks.

Another single with Nicco was released in October 2012 , it is called Get Up and climbed into the top 70 of the German iTunes and up to number 84 in the German single charts and in Austria into the top 10 of the hit parade. No placement was achieved in Switzerland.

2013: Summer Is Here

In spring 2013 they recorded the title Enjoy Your Life together with Emanuel . This was published on May 31, 2013 and was able to storm the Austrian iTunes charts within a very short time and work its way into the top 30. In parallel with the single, they announced a new album.

Also in May 2013 they started the DF&S project together with Shaun Baker. The title DF&S is made up of the names D arius, F inlay & S haun Baker . The project's first single is called Bang Bang (Explode) , which they recorded with singer Ceresia and rapper Ron Carrol. After just a few hours, the title was able to climb into the top 40 of the German iTunes charts.

At the end of May 2013, the album Summer Is Here was announced. Unlike the compilations Do It All Night Vol. 1 and Do It All Night Vol.2, it is a studio album and contains many new songs together with artists such as Tony T. , Nicco or Jai Matt and a few older songs that have been released so far. It was published on June 7, 2013.

The track Get Away was released as a single on August 16, 2013. The title is sung by Jai Matt and Nicco. It was the first single that made it back into the German single charts since Bang Bang . There the song reached number 71. In Austria, Get Away rose to number 22. It should be noted here that the club mix serves as background music for the music video.

Since 2014: Sovereign success in Austria

In January 2014 they released the single Dance with Marwill. In May 2014 the single I Am Not A Millionaire followed with the singer "Jen". The video for I Am Not A Millionaire is set in the mid-19th century Western era, the cardsharp "El Rock" was played by Franz Müllner (strength athlete). The German DJ duo Bodybangers contributed a successful remix.

In the spring of 2015, Tropicali was the last single from their first studio album. The single version differed significantly from the original and was based on the tropical house style that was growing at the time. A music video was also produced. In the singles charts of their home country, they moved up to number 21. The successor Firestarter , a collaboration with Nicco, which appeared in April 2015, achieved similar success.

In the summer of 2015 they released a cover version of the classic San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair) by Scott McKenzie from 1967. Here they worked with the dance project Tom Borijn. In contrast to the previous singles, they achieved a top 15 placement with San Francisco . Together with TK Tycoon they released a bass house production with the track Sniff It in winter 2015 .

The following year, World's Crashing Down was released, a big-room-style single, whose vocals Aili Teigmo contributed. The successor New Horizons was also recorded with Teigmo and was the official anthem of the Lake Festival.

In January 2017, in collaboration with singer Erika, they released the song I Don't Know , which, like previous singles, was divided into a number of different versions, including for festival, radio and club use. The radio version appeared in the trap style, which was very popular at the time. The track Can't Sleep , released the following month, received comparatively little attention.

In the summer of 2017, they released the song Whatever remains . This contains vocals from the Malle singer Isi Glück and is based on a mixture of appropriate mood music and hands-up or eurodance. However, there was no commercial success. Shortly afterwards, a trap and a hardstyle version of the classic Adagio-For-Strings theme appeared. In the late summer of 2017 the song Discotek People , produced with Mr. Shammi, was released , which was based on the "left-to-right" trend.

In August 2017, for the 15th anniversary, they published a new version of the Explode theme , which was originally produced together with Shaun Baker . Under the title Xplode , an EP was released through Armin van Buuren's Armada Music , consisting of remixes by the duo themselves, based on a hardstyle drop, by Avancada in the big room and by Graham Bell and Yoel Lewis in the trance style. The latter received a lot of attention at various festivals, but has been heavily compared to the track If It Ain't Dutch by Armin van Buuren and W&W .

The DJ and producer team is the owner of the Trak Music label, which not only publishes their own music. Compilations such as Millennium or Welle 1 are also processed via the label. In 2014 they received the Amadeus Award in the "Electronic / Dance" category.
