The railcars DR 805-806 (II) are developed in the 1930s railcars - series of German Railway for passenger transport on branch lines . They were put into service as 805-806 with a second occupation and were only given the designation 135 000-001 at the end of 1932 .

The vehicles were developed as comparison vehicles to the DR 717 to 719 and DR 720 to 722 as vehicles with diesel engines and electrical power transmission and are among the first railcars with a lightweight body. They represent the variant of Westwaggon of the two-axle railcars of angular design . According to the data sheet, one vehicle is in the Darmstadt-Kranichstein Railway Museum .

history

In 1930 both cars were ordered by the Deutsche Reichsbahn. In 1932, after acceptance in the Reich repair shop in Nuremberg, they were used in the Regensburg Railway Directorate . Both vehicles were used in Weiden in 1937 , where the 135 001 stopped operating in 1939 . After a head-on collision, the vehicle was retired and scrapped. It covered a distance of just 48,500 km before it was retired.

The 135 000 was the outbreak of war in the depot Dresden-Pieschen parked damaged. It was equipped with a wood gas drive for war purposes, operations cannot be found in the literature. After the war, the car was damaged in the RAW Nuremberg and was not refurbished again, although it had received the new designation VT 75 000 . In 1950 it was converted into a sidecar with the designation VB 140 399 and continued to be operated in this form by the Schwandorf depot until 1960. Then he was sold to the Kahlgrund Verkehrs-GmbH (KVG) and used there as VB 29 until 1977. In 1986 it was given to the Railway Museum in Darmstadt-Kranichstein . There is conflicting information about the current state of preservation, at least the vehicle should still be preserved.

As a result, apart from factory photographs, there are more recent photographs of the vehicle.

Constructive features

In terms of car body, the vehicles are similar to the DR 135 002 ... 059 . The main change features are the missing roof vents, the 1,200 mm wider car body window and the flatter car roof. Otherwise, the lightweight car body produced in a welded construction corresponds to that of the vehicle mentioned. The box frame was clad on the outside with 1.5 mm sheet metal, the inner cladding was made of plywood.

The drive system consisted of the six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine OM 54 , paired with the electrical power transmission according to the GEBUS system . The diesel engine was mounted on a support frame together with the generator, the cooler and the lubricating oil container. This was suspended with rubber elements under the main frame of the vehicle. The drive motor was a typical tram motor of the time and came from Siemens-Schuckertwerke .
