history

Share of the Kahlgrund Railway from 1898

The railway was opened on October 30, 1898 by the Eisenbahn- und Industrie-Gesellschaft AG and on April 30, 1904 it was transferred to the newly founded Kahlgrund-Eisenbahn AG , which had to file for bankruptcy in 1951 . Today's KVG (founded on October 28, 1952) took over the operation as a rescue company. Since 1948 about 500 kilometers lines complemented comprehensive bus network to rail transport , this includes u. a. also the city traffic in the former district town of Alzenau . For the 2005/06 annual timetable, the Hessische Landesbahn GmbH received the order to take over passenger traffic on the Hanau – Kahl – Schöllkrippen line. Now the KVG is only a railway infrastructure company and bus operator. After the lost tender, the Schöllkrippen workshop was leased to Westfrankenbahn , a subsidiary of DB AG, founded in 2006 , which has been servicing its railcars there ever since.

Since December 15, 1997 almost all trains have started and ended in Hanau Hbf . At the same time the freight traffic was given up.
