The series DSB Tractor 101-116 are light B-coupled diesel - shunting tractors that were built in 1951, 1952 and 1954th They were used on the lines of the Danske Statsbaner ( German  Danish State Railways ) in Denmark . The shunting tractors were used for smaller transport tasks and for shunting on connecting railways and in train stations.

These diesel-mechanical locomotives were originally developed by the Main Committee for Rail Vehicles during World War II .

History and commitment

In 1951 and 1952 Danske Statsbaner (DSB) received six diesel-mechanical shunting tractors from Ardelt in Germany . The locomotives had two axles and were driven by a jackshaft and coupling rods .

The locomotives were given road numbers 101 to 106 and were used equally east and west of the Great Belt , where they mainly replaced the small shunting steam locomotives of the Hs (I) and Hs (II) series. This series had a barrel-shaped roof.

Another ten copies followed in 1954. These differed from the first series in terms of the shape and position of the windows, the flatter roof shape, the size and shape of the driver's cab doors and the covers of the engine cover. The locomotives were given the road numbers 107 to 116 and were also distributed east and west of the Great Belt.

When Frichs supplied the Danish version of these shunting tractors with the DSB tractor series 117-146 from 1955 , some of the Ardelt locomotives were moved from Funen to Zealand , leaving only numbers 113 to 116 west of the Great Belt. No. 113, 114 and 116 have been implemented from 1970 to 1972 to Zealand, the last followed no. 115 in May 1979. All vehicles were in the depot Copenhagen Helgoland ( Danish Maskindepot Helgoland ) home.

On Zealand the machines were used in the shunting service at various small and medium-sized stations ; there was a fixed shunting tour for several years. In Heligoland, the locomotives were exchanged for inspection or repair, and transfers were often made with railcars of the MO series , which were also based there.

The last operational sites until the late 1980s were the train stations in Vordingborg , Holbæk , Køge , Hedehusene and Hillerød . The collection point for the locomotives that were no longer in use at the time was Centralværkstedet København , where many of them were scrapped in 1988 and 1989.

The locomotives were painted green throughout their entire service life, and the paintwork was renewed in this color during inspections. Only the series labeling changed. The original shaded letters and numbers with the crown were carried out by those in standard script , later in the Helvetica font with letters and numbers in white or yellow.

Preserved locomotives

No. 116, which was retired in 1990, was intended to be retained. It was given to the Jernbaneklub Amagerbanen, from where it was loaned to the Struer Jernbaneklub in 1996 and later sold. It was exhibited in the Struer Museum from 2000 to 2001 and was then replaced by the DSB Tractor 2 . As a result of a misunderstanding, it was scrapped in 2001.

So only number 115 remained from the series, which belongs to Østsjællandske Jernbaneklub (ØSJK) in Køge.
