The cycle path connects the source of the Dahme at Schöna-Kolpien via the cities of Dahme / Mark , Golßen , Märkisch Buchholz , Königs Wusterhausen with Berlin-Köpenick at the confluence of the Dahme into the Spree . It is 123 kilometers long.

The source of the Dahme is near Schöna-Kolpien in the middle of the forest. The cycle path is only signposted from this source, possible routes lead from Luckau-Uckro station on the Berlin – Dresden railway line or Oehna station on the Jüterbog – Röderau railway line , both of which can be reached from Berlin by regional express trains. From the town of Schöna-Kolpien, the route mainly leads on side streets to the town of Dahme / Mark, where there is a connection to Flaeming-Skate . It then follows the river to the east, partly on its own route, partly on side roads. There are several old watermills on the river in this section .

After the junction with the Berlin – Dresden railway line, the route turns north and leads via Drahnsdorf to Golßen . From there it goes mainly in a north-easterly direction away from larger towns to Märkisch Buchholz . Behind the city, the cycle path runs a few kilometers next to the national road 179 , then on forest paths to Prieros . Between Friedrichsbauhof and Dolgenbrodt , the Dahme is crossed on a cycling bridge opened in 2008. Behind Bindow , the route turns west and leads mostly on existing country roads via Kablow and Zernsdorf to Königs Wusterhausen.

The city center of Königs Wusterhausen cannot be reached directly, but only via a detour. The path remains on the right bank of the Dahme and leads north towards Wernsdorf , from there further west on Berlin to Schmöckwitz . We continue on the left bank of the Dahme to Berlin-Grünau , where the river is crossed by the ferry to Wendenschloss . The last section of the path leads on the right bank of the Dahme to the confluence in Köpenick .

Except for a few short sections, the path is paved. It is linked to several other cycle routes, for example in Dahme / Mark with the Flaeming-Skate and in Köpenick with the Europaradweg R1 . In Königs Wusterhausen and Märkisch Buchholz , the Dahmeradweg is connected to the Hofjagdweg , so that a round trip over both routes is possible.
