Dalian Shide was a football club from Dalian , People's Republic of China . In 2004 the club was a founding member of the Chinese Super League , the country's highest league. The club played its home games first in the People's Stadium and later in the Jinzhou Stadium. The club was owned by the Shide Group from China. He was one of the most successful clubs in China and meanwhile the Chinese record champions.

The club was originally founded in 1982 as Dalian FC to replace the ailing second division club Dalian Dockyards . From 1993 the club was called Dalian Wanda FC. In 1999 the name was changed to Dalian Shide. The club won a total of 8 national championships, the last one in 2005. The greatest international successes were reaching the finals of the AFC Champions League in 1998 and the Asian Cup winners' competition in 2001. In 2008 the club had an "offshoot" in the S-League in Singapore . After only one season, the club had to withdraw again. In the 2012 season the club played in the Chinese Super League for the last time and finished the season in 14th place out of 16. After the end of the season it was announced that the club had been sold to the Aerbin Group .
