history

Dallas in the game against New York 2020

Dallas joined Seattle , Houston , Los Angeles , New York , St. Louis , Tampa Bay and Washington, DC as the league host cities. It is the first professional outdoor football team to play in a league other than the NFL at the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex since the Dallas Rockets and the Fort Worth Braves of the Texas Football League closed in 1971.

On February 7, 2019, Bob Stoops, longtime head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners , was introduced as head coach. He was the first confirmed head coach of the XFL. On April 23, 2019, he appointed Chris Woods as his defensive coordinator and on May 16, 2019, Hal Mumme as his offensive coordinator . The name, logo and colors of the Renegades were released along with those of the other teams on September 21, 2019.

The Renegades played their first game on February 9, 2020 and lost to the St. Louis BattleHawks by 9:15. On the following day, the franchise celebrated the first victory in its history with a 25:18 over the Los Angeles Wildcats .

The Renegades are rivals in the state with the Houston Roughnecks. Games between the two are marketed as Texas Throwdown.
