Dalutan Island is an island in the Biliran Province in the Philippines . It is located about 8 km off the north coast of the island of Leyte, 4 km west of Biliran and 9 km east of the island of Higatangan , in the south of the Samar Sea . The island is uninhabited and is administered by the greater municipality of Almeria .
Dalutan Island was created by tectonic forces and has the shape of a bison . The island is covered with dense, tropical vegetation, which mainly consists of coconut and nipa palms and, in the interior of the island, the Ipil-ipil tree . On the east coast there is a long white sandy beach, the remaining coastal formations consist of exotic rock formations and pebble beaches. The island is advertised as a natural beauty by the tourism authorities of the province of Biliran, but has so far been spared from mass tourism .
Dalutan Island can be accessed from Agta Point in the municipality of Almeria. The trip with the outrigger boat takes about 20 minutes.
