Santo Niño Island is an island in Samar Province in the Philippines . It is located about 27 km off the north coast of the island of Biliran , 24 km southwest of Calbayog City and 45 km east of the island of Masbate in the southern part of the central Samar Sea . The island has an area of around 19.40 km² and is administered by the municipality of the same name, Santo Niño . The two barangays Basud and Ilo have an urban character and are classified as urban .
Santo Niño Island is of volcanic origin. The island has a triangular shape, the coastline of which is characterized by shallow bays. The topography of the island has a mountainous character and rises in the center of the island to over 450 meters above sea level. The vegetation on the island consists partly of dense, tropical vegetation, but in the coastal areas also consists of intensively agricultural areas. There is no tourist infrastructure on the island.
Camandag Island is 13 km to the north, Karikiki Island is about 15 km to the northwest , Almagro Island is 25 km and Tagapul-an Island is 44 km away. Maripipi Island is 24 km to the southwest . Santo Niño Island can be reached via the ports in Calbayog City, Cataingan and Kawayan .
