The Cuatro Islas Protected Landscape / Seascape is located in the Camotes Sea , Philippines . The combined land and marine reserve in the province of Leyte was established on April 23, 2000 and currently has a size of 125 km². It was named after the Cuatro Islas archipelago, which includes the islands of Digyo, Apid, Mahaba and Himokilan. The islands belong to the municipality of Inopacan and Hindang .

Around the four islands are smaller coral reefs , in which 287 species of hard corals have been found. There are no fresh water sources on the four islands.

In the surrounding waters, the leave Fraser's dolphin ( Lagenodelphis hosei ), East Pacific dolphin ( Stenella longirostris ) and the Indian pilot whale ( Globicephala macrorhynchus ) observed. Nesting nests of green turtles ( Chelonia mydas ) and hawksbill turtles ( Eretmochelys imbricata ) can also be found on Digyo . The gray reef shark ( Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos ), white tip reef shark ( Triaenodon obesus ), black tip reef shark ( Carcharhinus melanopterus ) and thresher sharks ( Alopias ) can be observed around the coral reefs .
