Damian Green (2008)

Damian Green (* 17th January 1956 in Barry ) is a British , politicians of the Conservative Party . From 2016 to December 20, 2017, he was First Minister and de facto Deputy Prime Minister Theresa May .

After Green publicly claimed that he knew nothing about pornographic material found in a 2008 search on a computer in his ministry, but police notified him of the findings, the prime minister charged him on December 20, 2017 for violating the ministerial Code of Conduct to withdraw.

career

Damian Green attended the University of Oxford in the 1970s and worked as a journalist. He was first elected to parliament in 1997 and has held various positions.

In 2008, Scotland Yard was looking for someone to leak information from the Home Office . As part of the investigation, Green was detained for several hours, but no charge was made. During the investigation, investigators found "legal" pornographic material on a computer that belonged to Green's office.

When Theresa May, a friend of hers, became Prime Minister in 2016, she brought him into the government as a deputy.

Ethics committee

An internal investigation into Green was launched in 2017 to investigate allegations of alleged wrongdoing against women from 2015. The investigation by the Administration Ethics Group, led by Sue Gray, was unsuccessful, but the final report found that Greene had lied publicly when he claimed he had not been informed by police about the pornographic material found in 2008. During the investigation, information about the 2008 finds had apparently been leaked to the press from police circles.

Green's false statements documented in the report were sufficient evidence of a violation of standards for government officials, and Prime Minister May asked Green on December 20, 2017 to resign, which he immediately did.

family

Damian Green is married to Alicia Collinson. They have two daughters.
