Damien Perquis (born April 10, 1984 in Troyes , France ) is a Polish - French football player. He is under contract with Gazélec FC Ajaccio and played for both the French U21 national team and the Polish senior team .
Career
societies
From 2003 to 2005 Perquis played as a defender at ES Troyes AC in Ligue 2 , from 2005 to 2007 at AS Saint-Étienne in Ligue 1 . From 2008 he was a regular at FC Sochaux , from which he was signed on in the summer of 2009 after a season on loan. At the end of August 2012 he moved to the Spanish first division club Betis Sevilla . His contract ran until summer 2016. After a few injuries and a correspondingly few missions, the contract was terminated on January 21, 2015 and he was initially without a club. At the end of January 2015, he signed a contract with the Canadian MLS club Toronto FC , with whom he became Canadian champions in 2016 . On July 12, 2016, his contract was terminated. For the 2016/17 season , Perquis moved to the English EFL Championship at Nottingham Forest . He received a two-year contract.
In July 2017, he joined Gazélec FC Ajaccio for three years .
National team
Perquis played three times for the French U-21 team . When it became known that he also had ancestors from Poland through his grandmother, the Polish national coach Franciszek Smuda made him the offer to play for the national association PZPN . In July 2011, he then submitted an application for the establishment of Polish citizenship , which was initially rejected by the authorities due to missing documents. Then he gave President Bronislaw Komorowski , the Polish citizenship .
On September 6, 2011, Perquis made his debut for the Polish senior team in a friendly against Germany . On May 26, 2012, he scored his first goal in the friendly against Slovakia in Klagenfurt with the 1-0 winner, which he dedicated to his Polish grandmother. Then he was part of the Polish squad at the European Football Championship in 2012 and was used in three group games. He retired with the team after two draws and one defeat in last place.
Perquis is the focus of a documentary by director Marcin Koszałka about the EM 2012.
