Damir Radončić (born January 27, 1971 ) is a former Yugoslav handball player who has also had German citizenship since October 2000 .
The 1.97 m tall right-hander began his career at Proleter Zrenjanin . He came to Spain to Bidasoa Irún through Metaloplastika Šabac . In 1996 he moved to the German second division HSG Dutenhofen / Münchholzhausen , with whom he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga in 1998 . Since they lost to TBV Lemgo in the 1997 final of the DHB Cup , they were allowed to take part in the 1997/98 European Cup Winners' Cup. In 2000 he went to VfL Hameln , for whom he was the top scorer in 2000/01 with 174 goals. In February 2002 he returned to Spain to UPV Barakaldo in Bilbao . For the 2002/03 season he came back to Germany for TuS Nettelstedt . The following season he ran again for Barakaldo. After he had signed in the summer of 2004 with the Swiss first division promoted SG Zentralschweiz , however, two months later he accepted a better-paid offer from Qatar . There he did not stay long and from then on played for the Italian club AS Pallamano Secchia, for example in the European Cup Winners' Cup 2005/06. In November 2005 he rejoined the HSG Wetzlar.
For the Yugoslav national team Radončić played 71 internationals .
