Damnations Day is an Australian power and progressive metal band from Geelong that was formed in 2005.

history

The band was founded in 2005 by Mark Kennedy (electric guitar, vocals). After a demo in 2009, a trio consisting of Mark Kennedy, his brother Dean on drums and bassist Luke Vinken, went on tour through New Zealand in 2011 . After the guitarist Jon King had come to the group, work began to debut with Dean Wells of Teramaze as producers. The album was released in 2013 on Nightmare Records under the name Invisible, the Dead . After release, the group performed with Nightwish , Sybreed , Psycroptic , Black Majesty , Widow , Teramaze, Pegazus , Vanishing Point , King Parrot , Soilwork , Battle Beast , Salamandra , Circle II Circle and Helloween . The group was also represented at the Steel Assassins and the Stormrider Festival . In September 2014 they went on tour through Scandinavia with Accept , with the group taking part in a total of 28 concerts. After the band had written on new songs, the second album A World Awakens was released in 2017 on Sensory Records . Wells was again responsible for the production, this time also playing the bass.

style

Michael Stalling from Metal.de wrote in his review of Invisible, the Dead that the style cannot be classified properly, but the music could be described as progressive Power Metal in the style of Evergrey or Symphony X with Thrash Metal influences. The group relies on both hard and soft passages and occasionally evokes memories of Masterplan . The vocals have parallels to that of Tim Owens , while the use of double bass is characteristic of the drums. However, the group does not manage to reach the level of the aforementioned comparison bands. Rock Hard's Mike Borrink noted that at A World Awakens , you can still expect Evergrey, Kamelot , Symphony X and Teramaze progressive Power Metal . Particularly characteristic in the songs are the bombastic refrains and the riffs , which occasionally penetrate into Thrash Metal areas.
