Dan LaCouture (born April 18, 1977 in Hyannis , Massachusetts ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with Lørenskog IK from the GET-ligaen since September 2010 .
Career
Dan LaCouture was selected as the 29th overall player in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders . He has since played for numerous teams in the National Hockey League . During the failed NHL season 2004/05 LaCouture played for the first time for the Providence Bruins from the American Hockey League . The American then moved to Europe for the first time, where he played for the Swiss club HC Davos for a short time . Then he took the Boston Bruins under contract. After he played much of the 2006/07 season with the Lowell Devils , the farm team of the New Jersey Devils , in the American Hockey League, his path took him a second time to Switzerland. At HC Lugano , however, he only made 15 appearances in the entire 2007/08 season , as he mostly sat in the stands as a surplus foreigner. He had previously received a contract with the Anaheim Ducks , which was terminated after LaCouture refused to appear for their farm team in Portland.
On October 6, 2008, LaCouture signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes , which is also valid for their farm team, but moved in January 2009 to the Continental Hockey League at Barys Astana from Kazakhstan . After he did not find a new club in the summer of 2009, he was signed again by the Providence Bruins in November of the same year. In September 2010 LaCouture was signed by Lørenskog IK from the GET-ligaen .
