Dan Trachtenberg (born May 11, 1981 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American film director . His directorial debut 10 Cloverfield Lane was released in March 2016. Trachtenberg was one of the three hosts of the Totally Rad Show and former co-host of Geekdrome . Both were video podcasts from Revision3 . Trachtenberg received more attention for his short film Portal: No Escape (2011). He has also directed other short films and television commercials .

Life

Trachtenberg was born on May 11, 1981 in Philadelphia. He is married to Priscilla (Hernandez) Trachtenberg and has had a daughter since September 2016.

Career

Trachtenberg began his career as a director for television commercials, u. a. for Nike , Coca-Cola and Lexus . In 2003 he made his first short film Kickin ' . In April 2008, he joined Tight Films to work with Matt Wolf on an alternate reality game for Hellboy - The Golden Army .

In March 2011 Trachtenberg's short film More Than You Can Chew was released , for which he also wrote the screenplay with Mark D. Walker.

On August 23, 2011 Trachtenberg released the short film Portal: No Escape , based on the computer game Portal , which was viewed over 20 million times. It was through this success that the Hollywood system became aware of him. In October of the same year it was announced that he and the screenwriters Chris Morgan for Universal Studios on a science fiction - heist movie work, entitled Crime of the Century .

In January 2013 it was announced that Trachtenberg is responsible for the film adaptation of the comic series Y: The Last Man . In September 2014, however, the discontinuation of the project was announced.

A few months earlier, in April 2014, the collaboration between Bad Robot Productions and Trachtenberg for the production title Valencia became public, which later turned out to be 10 Cloverfield Lane .
