Daniel "Dani" Mallo Castro (born January 25, 1979 in A Coruña or Cambre ) is a Spanish football goalkeeper .
Career
Mallo started his career at Deportivo La Coruña . In August 1997, he first played for the second team in the Segunda División B . With Deportivo B he had to relegate to the Tercera División in 1998/99 , but was able to rise again to the third division the following season. In the 2000/01 season they finally rose from the fourth highest division. He made his debut for the Deportivo professionals in January 2003 in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Cup against FC Alicante . In March 2003 he made his debut against Manchester United in the Champions League . In May 2003 he finally made his debut in the Primera División against Recreativo Huelva .
For the 2003/04 season Mallo was awarded to the second division club FC Elche . For Elche he completed 38 games in the Segunda División that season . After returning to Deportivo, he only played one game in the Primera División. In the summer of 2006 he moved to Portugal to Sporting Braga . In April 2007 he made his debut against Vitória Setúbal in the Primeira Liga . In January 2009 he moved to Scotland for FC Falkirk .
After half a year in Scotland, Mallo returned to Spain, where he joined the second division club Girona FC . In his first two seasons he played ten games each time. In the 2011/12 season he became a regular goalkeeper; he came to 22 missions. The following season he came to 39 games, but failed with Girona in the final of the promotion playoff to UD Almería .
For the 2013/14 season, Mallo moved to league rivals CD Lugo . After leaving Lugo in the summer of 2015 and temporarily without a club, he moved to Albacete Balompié in October 2015 . In summer 2016 he moved to Atlético de Kolkata in the Indian Super League .
