Daniel Bellissimo (born August 15, 1984 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Italo - Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper , who was most recently under contract with VIK Västerås HK in the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan . His brother Vince Bellissimo is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Daniel Bellissimo began his career as a hockey player in the Ontario Junior Hockey League , in which he was active from 2001 to 2004 for the Vaughan Vipers, Georgetown Raiders, Stouffville Spirit and St. Michael's Buzzers. He then attended Western Michigan University for three years , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association . From 2007 to 2011 the goalkeeper played for Asiago Hockey in the Italian Serie A1 . With his team he was Italian champion in the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons .

The 2010/11 season spent at Bellissimo Bofors IK in the HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish league. There he was able to convince with good performances and was committed after the season by Timrå IK from the Elitserien . For Timrå Bellissimo completed 39 Elitserien games in the 2012/13 season, in which he had above-average statistics. In April 2013 he moved within the league to Luleå HF , for which he completed nine appearances in the Svenska Hockeyligan by December of the same year. He was then released from his contract.

In February 2014 he was signed by VIK Västerås HK from HockeyAllsvenskan , but was not used in any of the club's competitive games. After the end of the season he ended his career.

International

For Italy , Bellissimo took part in the World Championships in the top division in 2010 , 2012 and 2014 as well as in the World Cup in Division I in 2011 , when he achieved the second-best catch quota and the lowest goals against goals of the tournament after his compatriot Thomas Tragust .
