Daniel Jacob (born July 20, 1980 in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu , Québec ) is a former Canadian - Serbian ice hockey player and today's coach.

Career

Daniel Jacob began his career in his Canadian homeland with the Sainte-Foy Governors in a lower class junior league in the province of Québec . In 1997 he moved to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , one of the three top junior leagues in Canada. During his studies he played for the McGill University team , the Redmen , in the Ontario University Athletics from 2000 to 2005 and was appointed to the First All Star Team of the OUA East Relay in 2005. During this time he also completed five games in 2003 for the Lévis Canonniers from the lower class QSCHL and in 2005 he played for San Antonio Rampage in the American Hockey League .

He then moved to Europe, where he first played in the Austrian ice hockey league for HC Innsbruck . However, he left the Tyrolean again after two games and joined the Kristianstads IK from Division 1 , the third highest Swedish division, where he played until the end of the season. From 2006 he played in Serbia. After three years at HK Vojvodina Novi Sad in the Serbian ice hockey league , he moved to HK Partizan Belgrade , for whom he played in the Slohokej league in 2009/10 . Then he ended his career.

International

After being naturalized, Jacob took part in the 2009 World Cup for Serbia in Division II and, following promotion there, in the 2010 World Cup in Division I.

Coaching career

After the end of his playing career, Jacob went back to Canada, where he started his coaching career. From 2010 to 2014 he was assistant coach of the McGill Redmen at his alma mater . Since then he has worked in the same position at the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada from the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec .
