Daniel Meuren (born April 9, 1973 in Mainz ) is a German sports journalist specializing in football .

Life

Meuren completed his studies in philosophy , history and political science in Mainz and Lausanne with a Magister Artium. He also worked as a sports journalist for the Allgemeine Zeitung and completed a postgraduate course in journalism in 2002 at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. At the same time, he wrote as a local reporter for the Rhein-Main-Zeitung for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and then completed a two-month video reporter course at the beginning of 2003 with the pioneer of the VJ movement Michael Rosenblum in his now closed DV Dojo in New York .

He then worked as a documentary filmmaker (long-term support for homeless people in Mainz together with Sabine Streich) and freelance sports journalist a. a. for 11 friends , the Frankfurter Rundschau , Tagesspiegel and Financial Times . Before the 2006 soccer World Cup, he was a program employee in the official cultural program and designed and moderated events in the soccer globe that was touring Germany on a mobile basis .

Meuren has been a member of the FAZ's online sports department since 2008. B. deals with the history of women's football .

Private

Meuren reached two finals for the German championship in Tipp-Kick , in which he was defeated in 1999 and 2002 respectively. With his club Vitesse Mayence Mainz he rose to the Bundesliga in 2002, since the following relegation the club has played in the syndicate KarlMay Karlsruhe / Mainz in the second Bundesliga south.
