Daniel Pirker (born June 12, 1990 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian football player .

Club career

Pirker began his career in the youth of FC St. Veit , before moving to the Carinthia State Academy as one of the greatest regional talents at the age of 14. There he spent almost two years before he accepted an offer from TSV 1860 Munich and switched to their youth department.

In the "Löwen" team, he played alongside players like Manuel Schäffler , Florian Jungwirth , Peniel Mlapa and compatriot Philipp Hosiner in the U-19 team for over a year and a half before SV Wacker Burghausen noticed him.

Due to the prospect of being accepted into the professional squad, he then moved to Burghausen in January 2009 through the operation of Wacker sports director Peter Assion . As a result, he trained with the A team from the start, but was initially only used in the U-19s. At the beginning of the 2009/10 season he was subsequently completely included in the A-squad by the newly appointed coach Jürgen Press , but after a cardiovascular collapse suffered in the test match against SV Edelstetten-Egg , he never played in the league.

In January 2010 he then returned to Austria and signed a contract with the then top of the table in the Regionalliga West , SV Grödig , until the end of the season.

As a result, under coach Heimo Pfeifenberger , he immediately ousted the regular left-back Thomas Gröbl from the team and celebrated the championship title in the RLW and the associated return to professional football with the club.

Grödig then went into the second division season with top-class new acquisitions such as Matthias Hattenberger or Herwig Drechsel , in which Pirker was able to keep his regular place at the beginning. After falling behind expectations with 7th place in the no man's land of the league during the winter break, the club improved again and brought in more experienced Bundesliga players in Thomas Krammer , Andreas Schranz and returnees Diego Viana . Pirker, who had fluctuating performance in the first half of the season, was a victim of the renewed upheaval and was injured only on one second round. (As of May 16, 2011)

On May 13, 2011, the club officially announced that Pirker would be one of a total of six players with whom the new season is no longer planned or whose contracts will not be extended.

National team

As a player for AKA Kärnten, Pirker was promoted to Austria's U-16 national team. As a result, he was a long-time member of the U-17 and U-19 national team of his country.

On October 9, 2010 he made his debut under coach Andreas Herzog in a 3-2 friendly match against Sweden in the Austrian U-21 national team and was then part of the team's extended squad until spring 2011.
