Daniel Prohaska

Daniel Prohaska (also: Daniel Ryan-Prohaska ; born March 28, 1973 in Frankfurt am Main ) is an Austro-British singer and actor who specializes in tenor voices .

Life

Daniel Prohaska was born in 1973 in Frankfurt as the grandson of the conductor Felix Prohaska and the son of an Austrian opera director and an Irish-British singer. He grew up in Neu-Ulm and Vienna. His father was senior director in the theater in Ulm . Prohaska has lived in Vienna since 1989. Even in high school he appeared in theater performances. After graduating from high school, he first studied linguistics , English and Scandinavian studies and then began training in singing, acting and dance at the Vienna Conservatory . From 1998 to 2000 he was part of an English-speaking theater group. He appeared as part of the New Vienna Vocal Ensemble at the Schubertiade, among others .

He remained loyal to linguistics as a hobby and works as an author in this field. In 2006 he published a phrasebook for Cornish .

He is a member of the ensemble of the Vienna Volksoper and performs regularly in the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz .

His sister Anna Prohaska, who is ten years younger than him, is a soprano .
