Thanks for listening - song collection 1998–2012 is the first compilation album by German pop and soul singer Xavier Naidoo from 2012.
Publication and chart success
The album made it to the top of all German-language charts and stayed in the charts in Austria and Switzerland for half a year and in Germany for 41 weeks.
The German Federal Association of the Music Industry certified two platinum records for the 2012 album for more than 400,000 records sold.
reception
Artur Schulz reviewed the compilation for laut.de and calls Naidoo with his “mix of pop, rap and soul” a “trailblazer for various artists”. Schulz finds “the most popular and feared tracks” of the sometimes polarizing singer gathered on the album.
Stefan Weber from monstersandcritics.de puts the release date in a critical context with the finale of the first season of the talent show The Voice of Germany , on which Naidoo appeared as a juror. But he also points out that "Naidoo [has] not only made German-language soul music socially acceptable, but also internationally competitive."
