Out of this world is the debut album by German pop and soul singer Xavier Naidoo from 1998. With over a million albums sold, Out of this world is Xavier Naidoo's most commercially successful album to date.

Origin, style and commercial success

Xavier Naidoo's solo debut album is out of this world and was released in 1998 in collaboration with Moses Pelham by the Frankfurt- based label 3P. The album has a style of pop and soul combined with religious lyrics. Except for a cover version of David Bowie's “This is not America”, the album is entirely in German. In total, the album was in the German longplay charts for 103 weeks, including three weeks at number 1. In Switzerland, the album reached number 12 in the top ranking and stayed in the charts for a total of 60 weeks, in Austria it reached number 5 and stayed for a total of 37 Weeks on the charts.

Sabrina Setlur , Moses Pelham , Illmatic and Bruda Sven appear as guests on the album. Moses Pelham also wrote some of the songs on the album. In September 2014, Moses Pelham announced that he had been working on Out of This World 2 with Xavier Naidoo since last year . The album was released on April 1, 2016.

DVD and re-release

Ten years after its initial release, the album was re-released on May 30, 2008 . In addition to the songs from the 1998 album, two more were added. The accompanying DVD contains eight music videos, three making ofs and a full concert.
