Danuta Szaflarska (born February 6, 1915 in Kosarzyska near Nowy Sącz , † February 19, 2017 in Warsaw ) was a Polish actress .

Life

Danuta Szaflarska finished her acting studies shortly before the beginning of the Second World War in 1939 at the Państwowy Instytut Sztuki Teatralnej . She received her first theater engagement in 1939 at the Teatr Polski in Vilnius . In 1941 she came back to Warsaw and played in an underground theater until 1943. Then she played for a front theater of the Armia Krajowa until the end of the war . In 1944 she took an active part in the Warsaw Uprising . After the war she first played at Teatr Stary in Kraków and from 1949 in Warsaw theaters: Teatr Współczesny (1949–1954) and Teatr Narodowy (1954–1966). From 1966 she was a member of the Teatr Dramatyczny ensemble in Warsaw.

Your film work began in 1946 with the film Dwie Godziny , which was not shown until 1957. In 1946 she also played the leading role in Leonard Buczkowski's legendary film about the German occupation in Warsaw with the title Zakazane Piosenki . Danuta Szaflarska starred in films at irregular intervals, but mainly focused on theater work. It was not until the 1990s that she played more often in films, mostly supporting roles for older women. For the leading role in Pora umierać by Dorota Kędzierzawska she was awarded the prize for the best leading actress at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia in 2007 . In 2008 she received the Polish Film Award for the same role. In 2009 she was awarded for the film Ile waży koń trojański? Awarded the Polish Film Prize in the Best Supporting Actress category.
