Dark Planet is an American science fiction film directed by Albert Magnoli from 1997. The film was released on August 4, 1997 in Germany on VHS .

action

The action takes place in the year 2638, after six world wars. Humanity is split up into two genetically very different parts; the more sophisticated alphas dominate the action, while the rebels are disadvantaged.

A space mission led by Captain Winter is being sent to the dark planet. The expedition accompanies Anson Hawke, who is the only person who flew through a black hole . It is believed that the Dark Planet ( Dark Planet ) the first known extrasolar planet might be possible on life.

On the way, a group of rebels is picked up, led by Colonel Liz Brendan. Brendan tells Winter about the death of her parents who were killed by the enemy. He replies harshly that she should prioritize and not jeopardize the mission's success.

On the way to the dark planet, Hawke and another crew member fight. Later, the two groups within the occupation, the Alphas and the rebels , fight each other. The ship is also being shot at by another ship, but can destroy it.

Reviews

Richard Scheib described the film on The Science Fiction, Horror & Fantasy Film Review as a " routine space opera " as well as a " B-movie ". The story is interesting; with a different direction and a higher budget it could have turned into an " acceptable " SF film. Albert Magnoli is a poor director. The camera work is " cheap ", the special effects are " below the standard ". Scheib only praised Michael York, who dominated the film with the " furiously spoken " lines of dialogue.
