The happiness of this earth is an Austrian television series that was broadcast in 2011 on the station Das Erste . The main character is Katharina Lenz, who takes over the management of a stud and meets with some resistance. The vet Michael Haas is at her side with all problems.

Dr. Katharina Lenz is a management consultant in Dresden and is about to marry her business partner Frank. Before that, she plans to renovate the Piber Lipizzaner stud .
Due to a car accident in which Katharina's father had a fatal accident, Katharina faces a difficult decision. Her father's farm wants to be managed and her brother is firmly involved in the stud, which is why she breaks her engagement and moves to Styria . Baron von Gradenberg asks Katharina to apply to run the Piber stud farm. With this she gets in the way of the chief stud master Josef Wagner, who had firmly expected to be used as head. Accordingly, he torpedoes Katharina's decisions wherever he can, with the intention of proving Katharina's lack of competence in horse breeding.
The veterinarian Michael Haas proves to be a real friend and takes a liking to the young woman. With this, however, the two draw the displeasure of his ex-girlfriend Petra Steiner. As head of the bank, she cancels the stud's loans without further ado.
With her relationships, however, Katharina can solve the problem: She wants to revitalize the stud with tourism and thus generate new income in the long term.

The series takes place in the Austrian Federal Stud Piber in Köflach , where the shooting took place. Despite good ratings of 4.7 million viewers and a 13.6 to 18.8 percent market share, Austrian Broadcasting and ARD decided to stop production because, in their opinion, the supply of series such as Der Dicke , Mord mit Aussicht , Familie Dr. Kleist , Weissensee and veterinarian Dr. Mertens of the ARD was sufficient for the Tuesday evening.

criticism
Daniela Zinser from Spiegel.de says: “The series is something like 'The Legacy of the Guldenburgs' for people who participate in riding . Because you have to like Lipizzaners very much to think the stories about the stud are exciting. ”[…]“ Of course, family series can pay homage to traditions and be kitschy too. But please not so humorless and simple-minded. The actors, many of whom played for a long time at the Vienna Burgtheater, deserve bolder, more complex characters. Especially Eva Herzig as Katharina Lenz can only be patent and honest, but a lot of energy is not a value in itself. Herzig is underchallenged and nobody can make up for a bad script like that by Martin Ambrosch and Agnes Pluch with pure presence and charm. "
