The Cabinet of bloody hands (original title: Picture Mommy Dead ) is a thriller of the American director Bert I. Gordon from the year 1966 .
action
Three years ago there was a mysterious fire in the large Flegmore House. The lady of the house, Jessica Shelley, was killed. Who or what triggered the disaster remains uncertain. What is certain is that it was a cowardly attack. Since that night, 17-year-old Susan, the daughter of the deceased, has been in a psychiatric hospital.
Subsequently, Susan's widowed father, Edward, marries her former governess . One day the girl is slated to return to the Flegmore estate to take on the inheritance of her late mother. However, the estate, a whopping $ 95,000, is inviolable to the girl until her 25th birthday. The considerable fortune as well as the Flegmore House arouse desires in Susan's stepmother, who from now on tries to bring the unstable youngster back to the madhouse. Her goal of phasing out Susan also means that the fortune will go to the father.
Susan is becoming more and more mad. She sees her mother walking through the rooms of the house and hears strange noises. The horrific truth is ultimately revealed in a dark storm night. The stepmother learns that Edward once strangled his wife and that Susan helped him get rid of the body by setting fire to the house. During his narration, Edward soars into the situation at that time that he, like Jessica back then, now strangles his current wife. Susan watched again and set fire to the house as she did then. The film ends with Edward and his daughter walking out of the burning house and promising her that she would always be "his little girl".
criticism
"Curious horror effects that cause more exhilaration than thrill destroy all of the film's thriller ambitions."
“Confused psycho shocker about a girl's memories of the murder of her mother, whose unwanted witness she was. A flat, unconvincing story with pale acting. Barren and boring. "
