action
Drew Curtis and Julia Bishop get to know each other while studying law. Bishop has a job as an advertising executive in Chicago and a friend who moves to New York City after graduation . Curtis persuades her to move to Los Angeles with him , where his sister finds him a job. Drew works for a law firm that primarily works for actors. In addition, he helps a well-known actor - one of the firm's clients - invest in what he earns more money from.
Because Drew fails a state exam, he is fired. He speaks to the actor he is investing for and tells him this relationship can last. The actor replies that he has been in the business since childhood and is always represented by the same law firm. Curtis would know that had he done his homework - in which case, however, he would have passed the exam and wouldn't force either of them to insult each other .
After a long and unsuccessful job search, Julia gets a job as a producer of advertising films in her trained profession. She becomes successful and falls in love with a colleague, whereupon she and Drew break up. Drew finds new job with a real estate agent. After a while, Drew and Julia meet again by chance; Julia married her colleague in the meantime and is divorced again. Drew and Julia are talking to each other, in the last scene you can see them together in front of a house.
