David Einhorn (Manager)

David Einhorn (born November 20, 1968 ) is an American hedge fund manager.

Life

Einhorn graduated from Nicolet High School in Glendale (Wisconsin) until 1987 . He received his BA in Government from Cornell University's College of Arts and Sciences in 1991, honoring him summa cum laude . Einhorn was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at Cornell University.

In 1996 Einhorn founded Greenlight Capital , a hedge fund that has generated around 20% annual return over many years. His success was often based on betting that companies would crash. On Wall Street it was called the "unicorn effect" when Einhorn made public that he was betting against a stock and then its price collapsed. After his fund was very successful for a long time, however, he made a loss of over 20 percent in 2015 and more than 34 percent loss in 2018. He then admitted that customers had withdrawn substantial sums. Einhorn is President of Greenlight Capital and Chairman of Greenlight Capital Re, Ltd.

With an income of approximately $ 200 million, Einhorn was number 18 on Forbes' list of the highest-paid hedge fund managers in the world (as of 2014).

David Einhorn is a billionaire. On the Forbes 2015 list , his fortune is given at around 1.9 billion US dollars. This puts David Einhorn at number 1,006 on Forbes' list of the richest people in the world.

Einhorn took part several times in the World Series of Poker (WSOP), which is played once a year at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas . At the main event , he finished in the year 2006 18th Place, who gave him a prize money of 660,000 US dollars earned. Also in 2014 Unicorn reached the Main Event in the money. In 2012 he played the WSOP Big One for One Drop for a million dollar buy-in. There, Einhorn took third place for more than $ 4.3 million in prize money. Einhorn was also at the start in the other staging of this tournament in 2014 and 2018 at the WSOP and in 2016 in Monte-Carlo , but did not reach the start either there or at the $ 300,000 Super High Roller Bowl in 2016 and 2017 at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas Money ranks.
