society

The 1.81-meter-tall attacking player Texeira, who comes from the same city as the two exceptional Uruguayan strikers Luis Suárez and Edinson Cavani , began playing football at Deportivo Artigas in Baby fútbol . His other positions in the youth field were Ferro Carril, the selections of the Salto department and, since the age of 13, the Argentine club CA River Plate , where Erik Lamela , Mauro Díaz and Diego Buenanotte were among his teammates. He then switched to Defensor Sporting in Montevideo at the age of 14 and went through the local youth teams. He was eventually promoted to the first team by Jorge da Silva . He made his debut with the Montevideans in the 2009/10 season on February 27, 2010 in a 2-1 home win against the Rampla Juniors in the Primera División and reached the fifth place in the final table with the club at the end of the season. In the following season, his team qualified as runner-up for the Copa Libertadores and the championship final, in which they were defeated, however. Until his last league game on August 20, 2011, he had completed 22 top division games and scored six goals. He also played once (no goal) in the 2010 Copa Sudamericana . In August 2011 he moved to the Dutch Eredivisie for FC Groningen . For the Dutch first division team, with whom he ended up in 7th place after a 14th place in the table in his first season in the following season, he scored 14 goals in 65 first division appearances during his membership in the Dutch team and played twice (one goal) in the KNVB Beker . In January 2012, Texeira was publicly linked with a move to Liverpool FC . On February 21, 2014, he signed a contract with the North American MLS franchise FC Dallas . In 2014 he was mainly used in the MSL, but also played some games for the reserve team in the USL . In 2015 he reached the conference finals of the Western Conference with the team as first in the table . However, his team was eliminated there against the eventual champions Portland Timbers . Up until his last league appearance on October 25, 2015, he had 41 MLS league matches and six goals with the Texans. Across the seasons he was also used three times (two goals) in the US Open Cup . In mid-January 2016, he moved to the Turkish club Sivasspor , for which he played 15 league games by the end of the season and scored twice in the opposing goal. After this club missed relegation at the end of the season, Texeira left him again. Vitória Guimarães announced his commitment in mid-September 2016 . In the 2016/17 season, he scored five goals in a total of 19 first division appearances.

National team

At the U-20 World Cup in Colombia in 2011 , he was part of the Uruguayan U-20 squad . In the course of the tournament he played three international matches. He didn't score a goal. In the run-up to the 2012 Summer Olympics, he was also part of the U-23 squad set up by national coach Óscar Tabárez . Ultimately, he was not nominated.
