Davis Cup Nations Ranking
In the Davis Cup Nations Ranking ( English Davis Cup Nations Ranking ) are determined by the International Tennis Federation , the (ITF) since 2002 Tennis -Nationalmannschaften the men out in an official ranking. The evaluation is based on official matches between the national teams in the men's Davis Cup .
The list was introduced to make a comparison between the nations. The nation ranking is updated after each Davis Cup round and contains all nations participating in the Davis Cup.
It is mainly used for seeding in all groups of the competition, with seed number one being last year's winner and seed number two being last year's finalist, regardless of what number of points they have in the nation ranking.
Scoring
The Davis Cup Nations Ranking lists the successes of the nations participating in the Davis Cup over a four-year period. All results within the last four years are taken into account, so that after each round in the Davis Cup the oldest results are no longer included in the evaluation. More recent tournament successes are weighted more heavily in the evaluation than older successes. Victories achieved in the last 12 months are weighted 100%, results achieved for more than 12 months but within the last two years are weighted with 75%, results in the third year with 50% and in the fourth year weighted at 25%. The 100 points achieved would gradually become 75, then 50 and finally 25 points, before they are no longer taken into account after four years.
There are both points for winning a corresponding round and bonus points for beating higher-ranked teams. Furthermore, there is an away win bonus in the world group, as well as in groups 1 and 2 : if a team wins away, it receives a bonus of 25% of all points scored in this round (i.e. the points for the win and the Bonus points when defeating a higher ranked team). If a team gets through a walkover without a win, it only receives the points for the round reached, but no bonus points. No points are awarded for consolation rounds.
