Dean Shek Tin ( Chinese  石 天 , Pinyin Shí Tiān , Jyutping Sek 6 Tin 1 , born as 劉偉成  /  刘伟成 , Liú Wěichéng , Jyutping Lau 4 Wai 2 sing 4 , Cantonese  Lau Wai-sing , born October 17, 1950 in Beijing , China ) is a Chinese actor , film producer, and director from Hong Kong who has appeared in over 120 films to date. Shek is also known to western audiences for his eye-catching portrayals in Drunken Master , Aces Go Places - Mad Mission , A Better Tomorrow 2 and Dragon from Russia .

Career

Shek, whose ancestral roots are in Tianjin , was born in Beijing , but went to Hong Kong at the age of three. As a teenager, he attended the "Shung Tak Catholic English School" ( English Shung Tak Catholic English College ) before it later to the Shaw Brothers studios went to join the company for acting and film the training program in 1968 as an actor to get active. He mainly shot musicals , comedies and martial arts films for the Shaw Brothers Studio .

In 1973 he left the Shaw Brothers and starred for the first time with Jackie Chan in the film " The Master With Broken Hands ". Shek founded the production company Cinema City & Films Co. with Karl Maka and Raymond Wong Pak-Ming in 1980. In addition to producing films, he was also active as a director of five of his own films ( The Monk - 1975, Perfect Wife ?! - 1983, A Family Affair - 1984, Kung Hei Fat Choy - 1985 and The Family Strikes Back - 1986), all of which were blockbusters on the domestic market in Hong Kong . Shek had his last major role in 1991 in The Raid directed by Tsui Hark and Ching Siu-Tung . In 2016 he was cast by Sammo Hung in his film The Bodyguard , together with director Tsui Hark and actor Karl Maka for a guest appearance.

Private life

Shek has been married to actress Lau, Chun-yue from Taiwan since 1979 . His hobbies include golf , cigars and coffee . After retiring from the entertainment industry in 1991, he entered the real estate market and found success there.
