Defiler was an American deathcore band from Castro Valley, Northern California .

history

Defiler was founded in 2010 and consists of Jake Pelzl ( vocals ), guitarists Ethan Lewis and Tony Bigley, Ian Poole ( drums ), and Jesse Dhaliwal ( bass guitar ). In the founding year, the EP Plasmodium and a demo The Knee Capper were released , before the group released their debut album Pangea on December 21, 2010, each on their own. First, the album was released digitally. From the income the band financed a video production for the song Cryomancer , which was a great success. Through this success the label Stillborn Records and Jamey Jasta became aware of Defiler, who are releasing the debut album again, this time on CD. The album was mastered and mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris , who has worked with Hatebreed , Shadows Fall , Emmure and Chimaira .

In May 2012, the US label Razor & Tie (including All That Remains and Chelsea Grin ) announced that they had signed Defiler. The follow-up album Nematocera was released in autumn 2012.

In January and February 2012 Defiler toured the United States supporting Wayne Static and Polkadot Cadaver . This was only possible because the group The Agonist got out as support. In May and June 2013, the group toured outside the United States for the first time. The I Wanna See You Mosh tour took the band through Ukraine , Russia and Belarus . At the tour finale in Minsk , the group was seen in the opening act for Parkway Drive . At the end of June, two concerts followed as the opening act for Born of Osiris and Emmure .

After that, the band remained quiet for a long time. The group started a crowdfunding campaign in October 2013 to finance the studio work for their third album. The musicians gave the goal of 4,000 dollars. The campaign ended in November 2013. During this period, only 46 percent of the target was achieved. In October 2015, Jake Pelzl announced that Defiler no longer existed as a band and that the members were concentrating on other projects.
